Warts and all
lady brought her dog Trevor to the Vet's to be operated on. When I took the details for the registration and asked when she would like to pick Trevor up, she said: "I'm sure you'll want him to be picked up as soon as possible". I wondered why, as Trevor was very nice and friendly looking cocker spaniel. The owner pointed out to the numerous warts that she'd like us to remove and kissed Trevor good bye. I took Trevor to the back room and he went to the cage without any hassle. I patted him and went back to reception. And then the piercing howling sound started. I rushed back to the cages and Trevor stopped the noise immediately when I entered. But every time I left his sight the awful howling started again. It continued until the Vet sedated him and we got the operation going. Poor Trevor was full of warts- but luckily not malign ones. After the operation we managed to enjoy the relative silence of the Vet practice, until Trevor woke up again. With a loud howling. When Trevor looked fit and wake enough to consider discharge, I started dialling his owner's number immediately. She soon came in and got her beloved howler home. It does make me always feel good when I see all kinds of animals really cared for- warts, howling and all.
