One of the world’s leading experts on Information Security and Cyber-Terrorism is being brought to the island later this month by Sure, to give a day of presentations on ‘Danger Money: the challenge of risk management. Richard Starnes, past UK President of the International Systems Security Association, is an internationally recognised expert in information security, incident response, computer crime investigation and cyber terrorism. He will be discussing how technology can provide practical benefits to businesses of all sizes here in the Isle of Man. The event is the second in Sure’s ‘Technology Unplugged’ series, and is designed to help companies here with what is now considered to be an essential function in protecting assets. Risk management is a core business process, but many people are unaware of things like the level of protection and money required, and what is the best way to install information security procedures. Sure’s Professional Services Manager, Gary Harrison, will follow on from Mr Starnes with a discussion on the latest developments for BlackBerry handsets and how Sure supports the device through its dedicated consultancy service. Simon Last-Sutton, Sure’s Isle of Man Commercial Director, commented: “Technology Unplugged seeks to present topical technology issues in a straightforward way. Information security is a fast-developing area and so we are excited to bring a world-renowned expert to the Isle of Man to discuss some of those issues.” Sure’s Technology Unplugged will include a breakfast seminar for non-Sure customers followed by lunch for existing clients. The breakfast seminar is open to any business and will take place at the Sefton Hotel in Douglas on Friday 16th May, between 7.30am and 9am. The seminar is free, and includes complimentary breakfast. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Julie Heselton by midday on Wednesday 14th May, at julie.heselton@cw.com.
