Most people after their completed their required education level, will tend to leave personal development behind. They falsely believe that they have "successfully" completed their education and now is the time for them to make some serious money and have fun. The society is full of people with good education but lack of many other social skill which they did not learn from school.

Take this incident for example, my wife started a small company in home decor business about six months ago, due o the small operation and capital, she is unable to employed experienced staff, so she resolved to employ fresh school leavers whom she think she is able to train them up with her years of experience in sales and marketing, being a university graduate and a chartered marketer.Well she had her fair share of challenges.

The benefits of employing fresh school leavers are many, first since they are fresh from school they are much easier to taught on the routine stuff that the job required, she are less demanding in term of staff benefits and less objections when told to do certain task. Things work well for her on as far as daily works are concerned. However, being a marketing oriented entrepreneur and knowing the value of marketing in a small company such as her, she take the trouble to train her staff on various administration, marketing, business and communication skill. Some of the skill given are outside the employees job function. What happen next was, one of her sale executive left as he felt that he is given extra task then his normal job function. Few of her clerical were reluctant to learn the skill taught, one felt that the skill taught is not her interest, most just take it likely and do not practice it as they felt that without which they can also carry out their assigned task.

People always fall into their comfort zone after some times, they conveniently forgot that the world is changing every day, what they have learned today may be obsolete tomorrow. Continuous personal development is not a necessity but a must now in the increasing competitive market. If you don't grow and keep progress everyday, you are actually dwindling.

take your Continuous Professional Development seriously.
